Jason Kottke eats pain au chocolat | Gridskipper
via Gridskipper:
The best pain au chocolat in Paris can be had at Boulangerie Malineau at 18 rue Vielle du Temple in the Marais. Most croissants, even in Paris, are either too chewy or too dry, but Boulangerie Malineau has managed to hit the right note with theirs. If you get there early enough in the morning (say like 7:30) or right after they do a second batch (9:30-10), you’ll likely get one fresh from the oven, a perfect combination of flakey, crispy, chewy, airy, and chocolatey. You’ll be walking around the Marais when you’re in Paris anyway, so drop in for a little treat. At 0.90 euro, it’s an affordable Parisian decadence.
